Steadyprogress began as a straightforward idea: give people in Toronto and the surrounding region reliable news without the noise. The founding team saw gaps in how local stories were being told. National outlets often overlooked regional developments. Local coverage was fragmented. Something needed to change.
We built a newsroom at 960 Queen St W, right in the heart of Toronto's west end. From here, our editorial team produces daily reports, conducts interviews, and writes analytical pieces covering politics, economics, culture, and sports. The location matters to us. Being embedded in the community shapes what we cover and how we cover it.
Our approach is direct. We report on events as they unfold through our real-time notification system for breaking news. We also take time for deeper analysis when stories warrant it. Not everything needs to be instant. Some things need context.
The editorial team brings together journalists with backgrounds in beat reporting, investigative work, and feature writing. Different skills for different kinds of stories. That range allows us to serve readers who want quick updates and those who want to understand the bigger picture.
Toronto is a complicated city. Ontario is a diverse province. Canada is always evolving. We try to reflect that complexity honestly in our coverage.
